I'm a Foodie and I’m broke. I'm a thirty
something whose budget has restricted him to peanut butter sandwiches and
spaghetti dinners for years. There’s only so many noodles you can cram in your
mouth before you crave something different: something delicious, something
homemade, yet something that’s still affordable.
You see, I'm also a person who loves to eat food with
flavor. I consider myself a foodie.
How can I be a foodie and be broke, you ask? Easy: I started
creating my kitchen from the idea that not every dish I see on a cooking show
is going to fit my budget. Sure, watching food shows is a lot of fun, but
sometimes it’s frustrating when I can't always afford to make the featured dish
or go to the restaurant to purchase it. However. . . that’s NO reason to feel
like a bum! These days we live in a society were different culinary ideas are
not put down, but embraced! The world is full of possibilities and ways to cook
even the simplest of favorites (for me that’s burgers / sandwiches / burritos).
How cool is that?!
I want to embrace the idea that we can all eat delicious,
homemade meals on an affordable budget. I'm here to offer suggestions of dishes
to help not only consolidate, but also share creative ways to spin them into
something a little different than the meal before.
Let's let that Food Freak Flag Fly shall we?! The purpose of
this blog is to help break up the monotony of these habits and add a little
extra something to your routine, all the while still using the same amount of
food that can fit into a Mini Fridge.
